As part of the Greater Easley Chamber of Commerce Annual Meeting and Awards Celebration on November 12, the chamber honored posthumously Jimmy “Bones” Wilson as the 2020 Ambassador of the Year.
The Chamber’s Ambassador Committee consists of energetic chamber members who serve as the volunteer public relations department of its organization. Together, they are an invaluable asset in membership retention efforts and good will for the chamber. The Ambassador of the Year Award recognizes an individual who has served the committee with active involvement, support and leadership.
Mr. Wilson served as an Ambassador not only for our chamber, but also for our local American Legion Post 52 and our entire community. He was a permanent fixture at chamber events and ribbon cutting celebrations. And his commanding voice not only got everyone’s attention, but also brought a calm sense of order.
As an active member of the American Legion Post 52, he took a leadership role in fundraising events, planning the annual Veterans Day ceremony, organizing the Wreaths Across America program, and managing the youth baseball program.
When Mr. Wilson unexpectedly passed away in late 2020, we lost a true chamber champion, community leader and dear friend. Bones loved his community and his community loved him.
Please join the Easley Chamber of Commerce in honoring Bones Wilson as Ambassador of the Year. Accepting the award were his wife, Doris Wilson, and his son, Jimmy Wilson.
