Mayor Larry Bagwell gives State of the City address

The Easley Chamber of Commerce hosted Easley Mayor Larry Bagwell and City department heads Tommy Holcombe (Building Official), Danny Traber (Chief of Police) and Butch Womack (Fire chief) who addressed the capacity gathered meeting held at Dunburks Premier Events in downtown Easley.  An annual event, the “State of the City” address informs the residents the state of their city.

Mayor Bagwell said, “Easley is in great shape with a reserve of approximately $4½ million. There have been no raises in city taxes and no city employees have been furloughed.” Each department head spoke about the goals and achievements in their area of city government. Bagwell said that work is almost completed on Walmart in the Easley Towne Center, due to open April 13, and ground breaking is about to begin on Kohl’s.

Mayor Bagwell discussed the plans for beautification of Hwy 135 from East Main Street to Fleetwood Drive. The four lanes would be narrowed to three with an added turning lane, as well as a bicycle lane and greenery/trees.
