Easley Chamber Replenishes Bicyclist

John Reyes of San Antonio, Texas

Out of town visitors are daily occurrences at the Greater Easley Chamber of Commerce and Visitors center. Most arrive by automobile but John Reyes of San Antonio, Texas came in on a bicycle having completed about 2/3 of his 5000 mile journey from San Antonio to Boston, Massachusetts and back via the south. He will accomplish this in three months.

John is doing this to see the U.S.A. by biking and also to raise money for Team Fisher House – a home for servicemen and families that are on leave from war zones. John Reyes rested at the Easley Chamber for an hour and was made welcome by Jean Riggins, Tourism Coordinator. He was given refrigerated bottled water, packs of crackers, and souvenirs of Easley and South Carolina as a remembrance of his visit to our community.

On that day, John was riding in from Reidsville, SC and his goal at the end of the day was to be in Toccoa, Georgia. He traveled light with forty pounds of bicycle and also forty pounds of gear including a tent and sleeping bag. You can read his blog of the journey at: http://bostonandbackride.blogspot.com.
