I want to recognize one of our chamber members and ambassadors – Terrie Albright of Albright Associates in Easley. Terrie is an enthusiastic goodwill ambassador of the Easley Chamber who has personally recruited six (6) new chamber of commerce members in the past two months. In tough economic times, new members add vitality to chambers of commerce. I appreciate Terrie’s extra efforts and also her contacts to existing members through the ambassador program.
For the fourth year, Joceline Pittman has coordinated the nine (9) evening meals for the players and coaches of the Big League Baseball World Series. This involves contacting churches and organizations to donate the food and preparation for their major meal of the day. Over time, Joceline has established relationship that has made it a little easier – but it is still not easy. Thanks to Joceline for coordinating and also to the many churches and organizations that give meals to these 225 young men and coaches.
The Big League Baseball World Series Tournament Director, Jon Humphrey is the leader of about two hundred (200) dedicated volunteers that have come together for the past ten (10) years to put on a world class baseball tournament. Volunteers from the Easley Chamber also participate in welcoming visitors to the tournament and distributing information about our community. Jon has commented, “Volunteers coming together for a common goal that promotes Easley and youth is what it is all about.” “This event puts Easley on the world wide map and the volunteers are the people that make it happen.”
ESPN will put us on the map August 4 at 8:00 PM when they televise the world championship game. When you see someone at a restaurant or shop that appears to be from out of town, go out of your way to greet them. We want them to recognize Easley, South Carolina as a Family Friendly Community.
