Update On Saco Lowell Project Given May 21st, By Cedarwood Development Corporation

Mr. David Scarnati, Development Director with Cedarwood Development Corporation addressed the Easley Chamber of Commerce’s luncheon on May 21 with an update on the progress of the Easley Town Center shopping complex. It is due to open 4th quarter 2010 with a Wal-Mart Super Store as an anchor to 500000 square foot shopping area. They are in phase III of the four phase project and are committed to completion of the project. The project has slowed due to the tightening of bank loans but is still ongoing.

Road improvements of about $11 million will involve Prince Perry Road, Highway 123, and the building of a 6 lane bridge over the adjoining railroad track. Combined Utilities also must complete the water and sewer system to the development.

It will employ 250 workers during construction and ultimately employ 900 retail workers in the 21 stores in the project.
