The Greater Easley Chamber of Commerce held its monthly 3rd Thursday Luncheon meeting at the Kimberly Hampton Library. Pickens County Council Chairman Neil Smith presented his “State of the County” address to a packed crowd. Mr. Smith discussed where we have been, where we are now and where we are going in county government. He also discussed how we are going to pay for it. He discussed possible upcoming reductions in aid from the state government. He stated, “We have a major uphill climb to a stable economy.” He also talked about property taxes, building and repairing roads. “We have a beautiful county but have not done a great job of promoting tourism,” stated Mr. Smith. A question and answer period followed.
Next month’s 3rd Thursday Luncheon will be held on April 16th. Dr. David Spittal from Southern Wesleyan University will be the guest speaker.
