The Leadership Pickens County class of 2008 graduated eleven (11) members on May 29. The graduation ceremony and dinner was held on board the houseboat of Mr. and Mrs. Bill Walsh (LPC class of 2005) on Lake Hartwell. The class was then treated to a cruise around Andersonville Island.
This was the end of a nine month course beginning in September 2007 and ending in May 2008. The class dedicated one day per month learning about leadership and group dynamics, economic development, infrastructure, social systems, health care, education, communications, local and state government, and tourism in Pickens County.
The class project was creation of a website for Leadership Pickens County www.leadershippickens.com.
“I enjoyed being a part of the Leadership Pickens County class! The experience more than met my expectations,” said class member Valerie Ramsey. “As a lifelong resident of Pickens County, I had no idea about the workings of the county and the treasures we have here. It was well worth the investment that I made.”
