At the December 19 meeting of the Oconee Pickens Chamber Coalition, Easley Chamber Director, David Whittemore was selected as the 2008 chairman.
The Chamber Coalition was formed in 2002 and is composed of the seven (7) chambers of commerce in the counties of Pickens and Oconee. They are the chambers of commerce of Clemson, Easley, Liberty, Pickens, Seneca, Walhalla, Westminster, and they represent approximately 1500 members.
The organization’s mission is to strengthen communications between coalition members and state government and to join resources to influence communities represented by its chambers of commerce.
Each year, the coalition has strong input to the SC state chamber of commerce’s competitiveness agenda. This is accomplished through the I85 grassroots meeting and written positions submitted to the South Carolina Chamber. The coalition also sponsors a representative forum each year to express issue positions to the Oconee and Pickens delegations to the South Carolina legislature.
“David Whittemore will be a good leader to this group that meets monthly at the Clemson Chamber,” stated Kent Dykes, President of the Easley Chamber.
