Grand Opening and Ribbon Cutting

November 18, 2007 marked the grand opening of the new Powdersville Branch of the Anderson County Library System on Civic Boulevard on land donated by the Powdersville Water District. The 18000’ square building also houses the Daniel Cooper Government Center.
The library has room for 40,000 volumes and other materials. 6000’ square will accommodate government offices of the magistrate, the treasurer, and the office for building and codes. The Cely Meeting room was also dedicated and it will be a multipurpose room for civic meetings. The Powdersville Council of the Easley Chamber of Commerce is considering this room for future monthly meetings.
Speaking at the ribbon cutting were: Faith Line – Anderson County Library Director, Joey Preston – Anderson County Administrator, Ron Wilson – Anderson County Council, Bill Dees – Former Anderson County Council, Carl Stone, former Anderson County Library System Director, Walter Warnock – Chairman, Library System Board of Trustees, Dr. Wayne Fowler – Superintendent, School District 1, Sam Cely – President, Cely Construction Company, Norbert Steeber – Chairman, Powdersville Water District, and Representative Daniel Cooper – South Carolina district 10.
