The Greater Easley Chamber of Commerce hosted 3rd Congressional District Representative Gresham Barrett at its August 16 luncheon joint meeting of the Easley Chamber and Powdersville council. This luncheon was held at Taste of Distinction restaurant and catering located at 2274 Powdersville Road in Easley to a capacity gathering of over eighty members and guests. Local elected officials attending were Easley Councilman Larry Bagwell, State Senator Larry Martin, State Representative Davey Hiott, and State Representative Phil Owens.

Congressman Gresham Barrett is from Westminster and has represented this district since 2003. He spoke to the chamber members on issues affecting the district including the war in Iraq, immigration and border protection, energy exploration and development, need to increase building of nuclear energy power plants, health care insurance, South Carolina competitiveness, roads and infrastructure, government spending and earmark allocations for the third district in South Carolina.
