Crane Chevrolet-Cadillac Business of the Month
Crane Chevrolet-Cadillac was selected Business of the Month for June by the Easley Chamber of Commerce. W. C. Crane, Sr. was a member of the Easley Business League on its inception in 1935. This league evolved into the Easley Chamber of Commerce in 1947. Crane Chevrolet-Cadillac has been a long-time supporter of the Easley Chamber, as well as the City of Easley.
Crane Chevrolet-Cadillac was started in 1923 by W. Carl Crane, Sr. This makes it South Carolina’s oldest new car dealership. The dealership also offers a full selection of used cars.
The company is made up of a staff of about 40 people, some of whom must have been camera shy and did not their picture taken today. W. Carl Crane, Jr., or Bucky as everyone knows him, ran the company for many years. Carl Crane, III worked every summer at the dealership beginning at age 15. Carl started out as a “wash boy” when the dealership was still on West Main Street next to the Colony Theatre.
Carl came to work full time in 1978 with his dad and is currently the dealer. There has been an amazing amount of change in car dealerships and in Easley in the 28 years Carl has been at Crane.
Carl has lived in Easley all his life and thinks that Easley is a wonderful place to live, work and raise a family.
