Chick-fil-A Restaurant Recognized as Business of the Month
By the Greater Easley Chamber of Commerce
EASLEY, S.C. (Feb. 02, 2006) – In just four short months since becoming Operator of the Chick-fil-A restaurant at Easley, John Wrenn already has earned local accolades for his outstanding efforts in support of the community. In recognition for their hard work and involvement with various schools, churches and civic organizations, Wrenn and his restaurant Team Members at the Chick-fil-A at Easley have earned the Greater Easley Chamber of Commerce Business of the Month award for February. The restaurant is now in the running for 2006 Business of the Year, which will be announced in late 2006.
“We are honored to be recognized by the Greater Easley Chamber of Commerce,” said Wrenn. “We are additionally awarded by the knowledge that we are serving the community that supports us as a business. For that reason, it is our hope that we can host a new event each and every day to benefit these and other local groups.”
One of Wrenn’s top priorities is promoting education among the youth of Easley. As a “Partner in Education” with several local schools, Wrenn sponsors a variety of educational and fundraising initiatives, including Chick-fil-A’s Core Essentials program, which provides parents and teachers with the tools necessary to teach elementary-aged children about character and values. Additionally, the restaurant is an active sponsor of several high school athletic booster clubs and sponsors Spirit Night fundraisers each week. In fact, since November 2004, the restaurant has raised more than $3,000 for local schools through Spirit Nights.
In addition to promoting education, Wrenn is actively involved with the local Y.M.C.A. The restaurant sponsors the annual Y.M.C.A. Golf Tournament in which all proceeds are donated to the organization for use for future programs. Wrenn and his restaurant also took part in the recent Greater Easley Shrinkdown, sponsored by the Y.M.C.A. to encourage residents to maintain a healthy diet and lifestyle.
Wrenn also sponsors a weekly Bingo day for area residents. Taking place each Thursday morning, participants receive a free coffee and hours of fun and companionship. The event has been so successful that the restaurant may host the event twice per week.
