Captain Kimberly Hampton Memorial Library
The Easley Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce that the Captain Kimberly Hampton Memorial Library is our “Business of the Month” for January. The Hampton Memorial Library, which is the headquarters for the Pickens County Library System, opened its doors to the public on February 28, 2005. “This past year has been very rewarding,” said Library System Director Marguerite Keenan. “We have seen the number of visitors jump from about 12,000 a month for the old library to almost 20,000 a month.”
In addition to providing space for more books, DVDs, and other materials, the library is also now able to offer a meeting room, a drive-thru window, and expanded adult and childrens’ programming. Also, unlike at the old library, there is plenty of comfortable chairs and tables, and six rooms for study, tutoring, or small quiet meetings. The library even has The Cup Above, a coffee shop operated by the Pickens County Board of Disabilities and Special Needs.
The director, Marguerite Keenan, has been a member and supporter of the Chamber, and has served for three years on its executive board. The Chamber also uses the meeting room at the Hampton Memorial Library for its monthly Third Thursday meetings.
The Chamber encourages everyone – individuals, families, and businesses and clubs — to take advantage of the many benefits and services offered at the Hampton Memorial Library. The library is located at 304 Biltmore Road, Easley, 850-7077.
