"When state-wide funding for the Small Business Development Center was in jeopardy due to the governor’s veto, Kent lead by assessing the situation and acting as a true professional in accordance with his convictions made phone calls to legislators encouraging them to override the veto. Thanks in part to Kent Dykes and to business and community leaders of his caliber state-wide, the value proposition of the SBDC to the small businesses of South Carolina was retained as the House and Senate voted to override the veto of our funding."
Ben Smith, Director, Clemson Small Business Development Center

"I just wanted to thank you all for your help last night at the business after hours. I thought we had a great turn out. We are very proud to have been awarded business of the month.

"You all have just amazed and delighted us at the Medically Fragile Children’s Program with your enthusiasm for getting the word out about our program! We think we have lots of reasons to be quite proud of what we do. We can feel every day how much the children and their parents trust us and work as part of a team with us. We see how proud a parent is when a child achieves a difficult task, or how a parent’s face lights up when we visit the child in the hospital.
But, when someone on the outside looking in sees the value of this program, we are proud and grateful. Thank you all so much for all you are doing to support
MFCP!"

"The ribbon cutting has been good publicity for us. A reporter from the Easley Progress saw the picture there and came out with a really nice article the next week."

"I want to thank the Chamber and all of its members for their overwhelming support of our annual Christmas party for the kids at Miracle Hill. With less than two weeks to go, we were extremely behind in donations, and after speaking with Kent about our situation he suggested sending out a flyer and fax to the members. I knew that this was not something we could make happen on our own and that it was too important not to happen! I said a prayer and gave it to God, knowing that he could make it happen. The next morning the phone started to ring. Everyone was so concerned and generous and wanted to do whatever they could to help. We were blessed in abundance! Every single need was met and the kids had a great time opening all their gifts. We could not have done it without all the support from everyone involved with the Chamber! When they left they were laughing and hugging us goodbye and their vans could not fit anything else in them. The kids who have been here before said that this was their favorite event they looked forward to all year. Thanks so much for making it happen for them!"
